Providing a way for every kid to get in the game!
Kids in the Game is bringing esports to Edgemont Elementary School by creating an inclusive league for schools across the city. Esports is a growing industry engaging over 226 million players worldwide. Our school will be of weekly practices and school vs. school matches. Kids in the Game is dedicated to providing an inclusive environment for kids to join their school’s athletic department.
Students will receive coaching in the esports games and then transfer the skills from the video game onto the court and field. Each practice will have a physical activity component that will get your students moving. Through this, students will be able to connect to the video games in a new and unique way. Our intent is that students that may have never had the confidence to play traditional sports will have a new outlet to try it through this hybrid program model.
There are both in-class collaborative and personal, introspective assignments, as well as “homework” assigned during the pilot. Further, a summative exercise that will be designed, revised, managed and executed by all class participants will showcase learning outcomes and newly developed or refined skills that were achieved during the pilot session.
